We Blog

Before I begin my upcoming project of, well, continuing my project of documenting adventures from Japan, I wanted to go on a short tangent about blogs. Specifically, my blogs. And yes, I know that sounds egocentric, but it's my blog so what do you expect? I realized that I've been using this page for a year now, and feel like this post will help to tie up where I've come from, continuing the nostalgic kick I've been going on lately.

The way I use blogs is primarily as an online journal. Documenting events. Ranting. Reviewing entertainment. It's here if you guys want to read it, and if my memory becomes even crappier years later. When I started this last June, I promised short and accessible (which I misspelled excessible o_O) posts. Those are the types of blogs I liked to read, and I figured they'd be fun to write, too. As time went on, my blogs got a lot longer in order to accommodate the information I wanted to get across, but I'm going to attempt to bring back the simple style as best I can. What does that mean for events from Japan? Probably a focus on cultural insights I think are important, and important highlights that don't include the time, in seconds, that I ate breakfast every morning (unless it's relevant, of course).

I've been blogging here and there since 2003, and luckily they're still available to look back and laugh at what an emo and angsty teen I was.

  • About: This was my first blog, and God knows why I chose Blogger as my home. Probably because all the cool kids were doing it. Some of my posts were reeeaaallly long, and nearly all of them are halariously lame. It began during I time when I spent nearly my entire day online, so I had nothing better to do than to write about it. Eventually a new blog system popped up on a site that I frequented and I moved over there.

  • About: This site was my main page for five years, and I updated it with all sorts of information. I had, and still have, a lot of friends on this site, and they would come by and be able to comment on my posts, as I'd do on their pages. This covered both online and offline events, but due to the audience on the site it was mainly online stuff.

  • About: A pretty short-lived blog now that I think about it, I got this because my other blog was for online friends, and lots of my high school offline friends started getting into Xanga (probably to rebel against myspace, which I never got into). So this was a way of keeping in contact with them, and I still get updates on their new posts periodically. I posted occasionally, mainly about stuff that was relevant to our group of friends. Drama ensues.

In Search of Quality
  • Date Started: 6/23/08
  • About: My official blog that I chose based on researching the most widely used and supported blog site on the net. I wanted to start over fresh and have something available for when I went to Japan. This is where I have my latest updates, which ensures that I have one site that can direct you to everywhere else I am on the net.
Wandering Otaku
  • Date Started: 6/23/08
  • About: This site is only available to those who are members of theOtaku. This is the latest blog medium by the online community that I'm a part of, where I post everything that I do on my official blog so that my friends who follow me there don't have to run around to different sites. I prefer the commenting system on there much more, because it's easier to follow others' blogs and get involved.
Sykedelic Entertainment
  • Date Started: 7/15/08
  • About: This was a fun idea that I had for a blog, where I can review whatever type of entertainment I'm consuming at the time. The blog is open to everyone, not just theOtaku members, and you can read what I think about movies, video games, anime, manga, books, music, etc. I did stuff like this for theOtaku back in the day, helping them make a Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion page. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to update it since last summer, and it's currently on haitus until I put up my blogs from Japan.

So that's about it on my blogs. Look forward to Japan posts really soon.
